Allegan County farm sued by state over discharge

LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An Allegan County farm is being sued by the state of Michigan for allegedly discharging hazardous waste into Rabbit River.

Attorney General Dana Nessel says that river flows into the Kalamazoo River and then Lake Michigan and a nearby watershed tested positive for E. coli at 14-times above the state’s water quality standard late last year.

J&D Brenner Farms is accused of releasing the wastewater into a ditch that flows to the river.
