KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A gust of wind is being blamed for an incident that damaged a small private plane landing at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek International Airport before 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Cessna 140 had landed safely and was taxiing off the runway when a strong wind caught the tail of the light plane, tipping it onto its nose.
Fire and emergency trucks were dispatched, but there was no fire. The pilot was not injured, but the plane will need some repairs.
The subsequent investigation closed the airport to airline traffic for a short time.
