KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — The Western Michigan University football team’s spectacular 2016 season began on a low note when two team members were arrested for forcing their way into a woman’s apartment and stealing cash and marijuana.
That drama came to an end Monday when the second suspect, Bryson White, was given three-to-15 years in prison for felony armed robbery after cutting a plea deal with prosecutors. In exchange, larceny and home invasion charges were dropped.
In her victim impact statement, Madison Rench said the theft had ruined her life, made it impossible for her to hold down a job and made it difficult for her to trust people and be comfortable in public.
Judge Paul Bridenstine noted that White and Ronald George, who also participated in the robbery, threw away the opportunity of a lifetime.
George, who testified against White at an earlier hearing, has already been sentenced to 32-months-to-10 years in prison.
