.KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Another suspect in a high profile case in Kalamazoo has notified the Courts that they plan to plead insanity at trial.
Dontrel Williams is charged with a bungled kidnapping and rape and has already been ordered to undergo a mental exam. ‘
He is charged with abducting the 13-year-old girl from a bus stop in early May, taking her to his home and sexually assaulting her.
Detectives say it all unraveled for Williams when his wife came home and the young victim was stuffed in a closet.
The pre-teen was able to use a cell phone to contact police and guide them to the house in the 1600 block of Clinton where she was being held and had been assaulted.
The 39-year-old is facing up to life if convicted on any of the four kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct charges he faces. Michigan also has a provision to find a person guilty but mentally ill.
That generally means prison with treatment.
