WASHINGTON D.C. (WKZO AM/FM) – Former Congressman Pete Hoekstra is being recognized as the chairman of the Michigan Republican Party by the Republican National Committee.
Hoekstra was elected to replace chairwoman Kristina Karamo earlier this year, but she has refused to leave office and says the vote was not by the party’s rules.
Hoekstra says Karamo needs to step down and stop “her misinformation campaign.”
She put up a video on social media yesterday saying RNC chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel has told her she is still legally the party’s chair and the RNC has no authority to override the vote that put her into office.
Republicans from across the state will meet for their March 2 caucus convention in Detroit to select a candidate to run for president, but also Michigan’s representatives on the Republican National Committee.
