(GRAND RAPIDS) – The Office of the Auditor General reports that needed improvements to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans are being made, but the facility has a long road ahead before it’s operating at the level required. WOOD TV 8 News reports that at least five key areas at the home are showing improvements, including nursing staff requirements, checking in on residents, and the filling of residents’ prescriptions. The upgrades in care come on the heels of a audit by the Auditor General 16 months ago that revealed numerous violations and shoddy record keeping…that audit and subsequent investigation has resulted in charges being filed against 11 former employees at the facility.
