JACKSON (WKZO AM/FM) — A fire at a home in Jackson is being investigated as a possible arson and while police say its too early to say what the motivation may be, it could be a hate crime.
They say it appears that accelerants were used to torch the home Thursday afternoon. The fire was lit at the front door and quickly spread through the home.
The occupants weren’t there but five pets were killed and two firefighters were injured fighting the blaze.
They say the person who lived there recently spearheaded a campaign to pass a non-discrimination ordinance in Jackson and has been a gay-rights activist for years.
