WAYLAND TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM/FM) — Sheriff’s deputies in Allegan County say a person is dead after a wrong-way two-vehicle crash Sunday on U.S. 131 near Gun Lake Casino.
WOOD-TV reports it happened near the Shelbyville exit in Wayland Township around 11 p.m. An initial call referenced a vehicle parked in the southbound lanes with no lights on. Additional reports afterward indicated a crash had occurred.
One person was sent to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being extracted from their vehicle, which was on fire.
The driver of the second vehicle died from resulting injuries. Investigators believe the deceased driver was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes.
Names have yet to be released.
