LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — The State Board of Canvassers has approved the language on three more voter initiatives that would appear on the November 2018 ballot if the sponsors can collect enough signatures.
One of the petitions would change the State Constitution to reassign the task of redistricting to an independent bi-partisan panel, instead of having the party in power control the process every ten years.
One of the other petitions approved would require employers to provide paid sick leave.
A third is a constitutional amendment to legalize marijuana with no restrictions, regulations or taxes whatsoever, and to make it retroactive. No one is quite sure what that means.
Now comes the hard part. The groups will have six months to collect the hundreds of thousands of signatures required by law to qualify for the ballot.
