KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man, who is already facing several serious charges after police say he tried to flee the scene of a crash on Stadium Drive, may face additional charges this week.
Kalamazoo Public Safety first became involved when they responded to a report of two shots fired at the Stadium Drive Apartments, and noticed a grey Mercury leaving the complex, but nothing indicated it had been involved.
Soon after, the Mercury lost control and crashed in the 2300 block of Stadium less than a mile from the complex. The 27-year-old driver tried to leave the area, but was apprehended after a brief struggle with officers.
They found an unregistered gun in the car and arrested the man for several gun felonies, hit and run, resisting and possessing marijuana. They may seek additional charges related to the shooting, but apparently no one was shot.
