DIAMOND LAKE (WKZO AM/FM) A man and his son had to abandon ship to avoid being run over by a speedboat on Diamond Lake Sunday afternoon.
Cass County Deputies say a 17-year-old piloting a boat towing a wake boarder at about 3 pm and didn’t see 61-year-old Thomas Blakemore and his son who were fishing from the small boat.
You might call it distracted piloting.
The Blakemore’s saw the speed boat coming and jumped into the water, avoiding injury. Both were wearing life jackets.
The teen and both anglers were from Illinois.
Alcohol was not a factor but there may still be charges or citations.
