KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Even though the heavy snow from over the weekend has ended, the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Van Buren, St. Joseph, Cass, and Berrien counties through Wednesday morning.
Wind chills as low as -25 are possible at times. The advisory continues through 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Lake effect snow will continue to fall throughout the rest of the week, with minor accumulation expected each day for areas closer to the lake.
High temperatures are expected to rise into the upper teens and low 20’s by the end of the week.
The bitterly cold temperatures could lead to frozen pipes for homes and businesses, but the City of Kalamazoo Monday issued a reminder to private property owners that it is their responsibility to reduce the risk of freezing water lines amid this week’s below freezing temperatures. In addition, customers are responsible for all water usage and no bill credits will be issued for private water line freeze protection water usage.
