PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — There were some scary moments early Friday morning at the Speedway gas station at 8379 Portage Road in Portage around 2:30 a.m.
Public safety officers found a stolen 2010 Chrysler 300 that was reported stolen to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office on January 3.
They found narcotics, a gun, and what appeared to be an improvised explosive device in the car, and the business was evacuated.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Bomb Squad was called to the scene and they rendered it safe and removed it.
The driver, a 27-year-old woman and her passenger, a 44-year-old man, both from Kalamazoo, were arrested.
Charges are pending against both.
The Speedway gas station reopened by 6:30 a.m. and no one was hurt.
