TEXAS (WKZO-AM/FM) — Thirty-three Red Cross volunteers and seven emergency response vehicles from Michigan have now been deployed to Texas to the area devastated by Hurricane Harvey.
The ERVs will be stocked with warm meals and coffee. They’ll be sent into neighborhoods that may be without utilities for some time. They are still in the rescue phase of the storm and about to transition to the recovery effort.
The storm has now been downgraded to a tropical depression, but the rain and flooding continues.
Preparation before the storm has minimized the human toll, but the storm is being blamed for two deaths.
Oil analysts say gas prices could be impacted nationally anywhere from a nickel to a quarter, depending on how long it takes Gulf refineries to resume production.
