KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM/FM) — Police are questioning witnesses and the victim after a 5-year-old Kalamazoo boy suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his hand at a residence on Carleton Avenue.
According to a press release from the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department, the report came in Sunday after 12:30 p.m.
Invesigators say the child suffered the injury after taking the gun from an unsecured safe.
The boy was taken to a local hospital by family members for treatment of his non-life threatening wound and was later released.
