KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM/FM) — With most districts starting school next week, Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller is urging drivers to be on the lookout for children.
Fuller says drivers can expect to see more of his sheriff’s deputies Tuesday.
“You’ll see an increased law enforcement presence all over,” Fuller said. “It’s usually a nationwide effort.”
He said it’s all about keeping children safe. In a press release, Fuller said he wants drivers to slow down and watch out for school zones, be mindful of cell phone use and the location of school bus drop-off and pick-up areas, to yield for pedestrians and cyclists, and to be generally mindful of school buses on the road.
“It’s a habit we have to get back into,” Fuller said.
And Fuller says students in Kalamazoo, Gull Lake and Vicksburg can also expect to be greated by law deputies during the early portion of the first week.
