COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM/FM) — Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller is urging the community to be patient as his deputies investigate the high-speed crash that left five teenagers dead in Comstock Township.
That plea comes after some took to social media to spread misinformation and assign blame.
“Let us do the investigation and cooperate with us if you have information,” Fuller said. “That way, we can help these families heal faster.”
He said the community’s job is to be supportive and mourn while his deputies figure out what happened.
“Five young people have lost their lives, five people that had a bright future,” Fuller said. “Unfortunately, that changed this weekend.”
The complexity of the crash has made elements of the investigation difficult, Fuller said. The vehicle carrying the victims burst into flames after striking a tree.
All five victims have now been identified.
