KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — The families of the five victims of last weekend’s fiery crash in Comstock Township will have separate funerals over the next few days, but the community got a chance to mourn and heal together Wednesday night at Mount Zion Church in Kalamazoo.
It was standing room only, with some taking advantage of an overflow room with a television to watch the prayer service last night. Over a half-dozen pastors from various churches gave bible reading and there was plenty of music and prayer.
The families sat in the front and were the main focus of the event and they said they were appreciative of the show of support by Kalamazoo in their time of mourning.
The five teens were killed when their car went off West Main Street and hit a tree early last Saturday morning. Dead are 17-year-old Deztanee Cobb, 15-year-old Jaquarius Hegler, 16-year-old Elexus Hillsman, 16-year-old Cortavian Murphy and 15-year-old Marshawn Williams.
