BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM/FM) — A Battle Creek man, who doctors say punched his wife 30 to 50 times prior to her death, has been sentenced to serve between six years and ten years in prison for assault.
Christopher Carpenter had initially been charged with open murder for the beating.
Pathologists believe that it was medication mistakes made at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital that led to Joy Carpenter’s death in December 2015, not the assault.
