PAW PAW (WKZO AM/FM) — An Alabama man who is wanted for a murder in that state has been formally charged with two attempted murder counts in Van Buren County for a shootout he had with a Deputy and a State Trooper along I-94 in Lawrence Township over the weekend.
As soon as 23-year-old Landon Harbin pulled over, the Trooper said he leapt out of his car and began blasting away, hitting one of the cruisers and a passing tractor Trailer.
The officers fired back and also missed. Harbin surrendered soon after he ran out of ammo.
Harbin was also charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle. That was why he was pulled over in the first place.
They found out he was wanted for allegedly killing his mother in Alabama later.
Alabama detectives are on their way to question Harbin and begin the extradition process.
He is being held on $5-million bond in the meantime.
