UPDATE: BANGOR (WKZO AM/FM) — The suspect in that weekend burglary and fire at a laundromat in Bangor has been ordered held on $500,000 bond.
Because they claim he also escaped from the back of a police cruiser soon after he was arrested, the Judge called him a flight risk.
Surveillance video from the business shows Dominick Wheeler breaking into vending machines for the change.
The cameras also captured the scene as police arrived and took him into custody still inside the business and the smoke coming from the back of the business as the left.
He has been charged with multiple felonies.
BANGOR (WKZO-AM/FM) — A suspected arsonist who allegedly trashed then set fire to a laundromat in Bangor last Saturday has been recaptured and may be charged with a list of new crimes after a manhunt that lasted several days.
Bangor Police Chief Tommy Simpson said the suspect couldn’t stay off social media and his cell phone. That’s how Michigan State Police tracked Dominick Wheeler to an apartment in Pullman, where he was taken into custody.
The 21-year-old Wheeler had been captured the night of the fire, but, while officers were distracted with crowd control, he kicked out the cage inside the patrol car and escaped.
The business suffered extensive damage and remains closed.
Wheeler was also being sought on other warrants and is being held for multiple felonies.
