KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Sky Blue Herby Curbies could begin showing up today at the homes of Kalamazoo city residents who have signed up for the city’s new single stream recycling program.
Single stream is simpler because the container is bigger, you no longer have to sort your recyclables and collections are every other week, instead of every week.
He says the service is available at no additional cost. It replaces the Recycling program that Kalamazoo homeowners already are paying for, whether they use it or not. Anyone can sign up at any time, either through the city or at their website.
Bob DeOrsey at Republic Services says they want people to sign up who are going to participate. They don’t want they bins sitting in the corner gathering dust.
There are still rules on what you can and cannot recycle, but they do the sorting for you.
They will switch over to the new system on October 2nd.
