KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — There is a new place on the north side of Kalamazoo for kids to find a safe place and a fun place, where they may just learn a thing or two as well.
They snipped the ribbon Friday night
On the suggestion of the kids themselves, Mattie Jourdan at the Northside Association for Community Development cobbled together some gifts, some grants, a few donations and volunteer labor to create the Northside Literacy Pocket Park.
She says they want to get kids interested in the STEM subjects, Science, Technology, engineering and math.
They also have four sculptures in the playground that represent four major inventions made by African Americans.
She says it’s officially open and its free.
