KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A murder charge has been reduced against a Parchment man who tried to save his mother’s life after he allegedly pushed her to the floor and she hit her head during a domestic dispute.
84-year-old Barbara Bodine would die weeks later in the hospital from that head trauma.
Investigators say 48-year-old Wesley Bodine was drunk when his mother confronted him in August of last year and they got in an argument that turned violent.
He had initially been charged with open murder, but his successful resuscitation prompted the prosecutor to lower the charge to manslaughter.
He will also be tried for aggravated domestic violence.
