ALLEN PARK, MI (WTVB) – The Detroit Lions have placed rookie defensive end Julian Okwara on Injured Reserve with an injury to his right leg. Okwara will have to remain on IR for at least three weeks before he is eligible to return.
Head coach Matt Patricia said he didn’t think the team would put a time table on the situation. Detroit has signed defensive back Chris Jones to fill Okwara’s roster spot.
The Lions have removed defensive end Austin Bryant from the Physically Unable to Perform list. Bryant had been sidelined since the beginning of the season with a pectoral injury. The team now has three weeks to activate him or place him on the season ending PUP list.
Detroit also made moves on the practice squad, signing tackle Dan Skipper and tight end Matt Sokol and releasing punter Arryn Siposs.
The Lions play at Atlanta Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
