KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A teenager who tried tunneling his way out of a cluster of businesses when surrounded by police may face additional charges.
Two teens broke into an Auto Repair shop in the 2000 block of Palmer Ave. in the Edison Neighborhood late Saturday night. The owner’s security system alerted him of the break-in and he called 911.
Public Safety Officers surrounded the place. When the two tried to leave through a side door, a juvenile was taken into custody, but a 19-year-old ran back in.
Detectives say he began trying to cut his way to freedom by moving down a line of businesses sawing through drywall, punching his way through 4 businesses before a K-9 tracked him down hiding in the rafters of a warehouse.
Both teens are being held on Breaking and Entering and resisting charges for now.
