You may be planning a search for the perfect pumpkin. If you are going to use it for decoration only, try to pick the one that has cuts and bruises before your carve or paint it. You won’t have to worry much about how to store the pumpkin. You need to avoid consuming a painted jack o lantern since, like human skin, pumpkin skin absorbs the paint. If you end up with a painted pumpkin after the holiday season there is still a way to use it. Don’t just give it the toss. Try turning it into compost – either for your own use or for local farmer’s use.
