KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A vigil was held this weekend for 30-year-old Julina Gibson and her 4-year-old son, Nick Mitchell, who were gunned down by the father of the boy, Nicholas Allen Mitchell early Thursday morning near the location where the vigil was held Saturday night on Emerson Street.
Family members say the former couple had been arguing over child support and visitation for the preschooler for some time, and that a warrant had been issued for Mitchell for failure to pay child support.
Visitation is planned for Friday from 4 to 8pm at the Langeland Funeral Home on South Burdick unless a larger venue can be found.
