KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Embattled Loy Norrix Principal Rodney Prewitt is no longer an employee of Kalamazoo Schools. It came as a surprise to many.
Superintendent Michael Rice announced last night that Prewitt had turned in his resignation, and the Trustees accepted it.
Prewitt had been on administrative leave following allegations he wasn’t entirely truthful when he applied for the job.
Human Resources Director Sheila Dorsey-Smith told the board last night that from now on, out-of-state applicants will be subjected to enhanced internet searches, and requests for employment files, school board minutes and any other documents that may be relevant.
She says if they have to file Freedom of information requests, they will obtain those documents.
Prewitt had been the target of a federal sexual harassment suit by a co-worker at Loy Norrix. That revealed similar allegations from early in Prewitt’s career in Florida.
