KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Jeff Hadley got a tearful send off at the Fetzer Center last night as staff family and friends all saluted the chief in their own ways as he is headed to a new job in Georgia.
Hadley was hailed as the leader who took one of the most unique Public Safety Departments in the country and made it a lot more user and people friendly.
Mayor Bobby Hopewell says he will be greatly missed. He said it was a sad and bittersweet night.
Hadley’s next job may be an even greater challenge. Formerly merged police agencies in Chatham County and in Savannah are splitting and the County is forming its own department.
Hadley will be in charge of creating that new department from scratch.
His last day in Kalamazoo is this coming Wednesday.
