KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — This is the last day on the job for Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley and the first day for Chief Karianne Thomas, a 23-year-veteran of the Kalamazoo Department who has risen through the ranks.
Mayor Bobby Hopewell believes she will provide a seamless transition to continue the progress the department has made.
He says unlike any other candidate from outside the department they might have considered, Thomas knows Kalamazoo’s unique Public Safety concept, combining Police Fire and EMS in one unit.
Hadley had to go through the training to become a certified firefighter when he first came to Kalamazoo.
