BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Calhoun County Board of Commissioners voted 5-2 on Thursday to approve articles of incorporation for the forming of the Transportation Authority of Calhoun County.
The action by Commissioners was an important step in the creation of the TACC and comes after almost five years of study.
The Authority has been created to decide what countywide transit will look like and how it will be paid for. A millage request is one option being looked at.
Any community in Calhoun County that wants to opt out has until October 9.
Calhoun County assistant director of community development Doug Ferrall told WOOD-TV the TACC will work with the Battle Creek and Marshall transit systems to consolidate services.
While some audience members spoke in favor of the plan, others expressed concerns about how it will be paid for.
