LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) — You wouldn’t think this would be an issue, but bills are now headed to the Governor’s desk that will ban undercover officers from having sex with prostitutes.
Until now it has been legal for a police officer, in the pursuit of his duties, to engage with a prostitute. In fact Michigan is the only state that allows it.
With a change in attitude about female trafficking, and the view that women in the sex industry are victims and not criminals, anti-trafficking advocates have been demanding the change.
Rep. Gary Glenn sponsored the legislation. The Governor is expected to sign the bills.
