BATTLE CREEK, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in finding a man who is accused of injuring a deputy on Friday morning.
The suspect is identified as David Wayne Burrill, a 42 year-old man from Florida who has ties to Howard City, Michigan.
He was arrested in Battle Creek in May for possession of methamphetamine. The suspect has multiple warrants for failure to appear and child support and is wanted for aggravated assault causing injury to the deputy.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies tried to stop a 2001 Mercedes Benz on SW Capital near George B Street just before 11:00 a.m.
The car had significant front-end damage and the license plate EMC 6654. The vehicle fled from the traffic stop.
Deputies managed to locate the vehicle at the dead end of George B Street.
As deputies exited the patrol unit, the suspect accelerated and struck the patrol car door pushing it in against the deputy. The deputy suffered minor injuries.
