KALAMAZOO COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Three local residents have been given Life-saver awards for coming to the rescue of strangers in need.
They are being called heroes after they saved lives. Two employees at Costco took turns giving CPR to co-worker Jennica Johnson after she suffered cardiac arrest in October.
Tom Falan and Mike Yarrington kept it up until paramedics arrived, and the woman survived.
Kalamazoo Township Police Chief Tim Burr-goise honored Kendra Gregory last week for an incident that happened in November.
She took a wrong number call from a woman in New York who had just stabbed herself in a suicide attempt and was able to get enough information from the victim and relay it to Township dispatchers to successfully send help to the woman in New York.
The woman had recently moved from Kalamazoo to New York State, and misdialed.
All three received life-saver certificates from their respective township boards.
