BANGOR (WKZO) — A Van Buren County home suffered heavy damage in a fire on New Year’s Eve.
Bangor Fire Chief Derek Babcock says they are taking donations to help out a family that lost just about everything when their home in the 58-thousand block of 36th Avenue caught fire New Years Eve.
Arriving firefighters saw smoke pouring out of the attic.
Everyone had already escaped the home where 12 people were living, including six children under the age of 8.
They are blaming a chimney fire for the blaze. You can drop off items or a check at the fire station.
The Red Cross is providing temporary shelter for the family at a motel.
