KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Education will waste no time filling a second vacancy on their board, with two special meetings added to the school calendar this week.
The seat suddenly became available last week, when trustee Megan Maddock announced she had taken a job with the Ann Arbor Public Schools and would no longer be able to serve.
The Board of Education has had plenty of practice filling vacancies, between their Superintendent search and just last month, they had to replace board member Tandy Moore, who stepped down for personal reasons.
Trustees will meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. to select the candidates they want to interview. The next evening, Thursday at 6:30 p.m., they will do the interviews.
The board could make their choice that night or wait until their next regular meeting, the following week.
Whoever is chosen will serve the 3-1/2 years left on Maddock’s term.
