KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — An apparent drive-by shooting at one of the most dangerous corners in Kalamazoo has resulted in the arrest of two of the alleged victims, but the gunmen remain at large.
Public Safety Officers responded to the corner of Ada and Burrell right around 3.a.m. Sunday.
They spotted a dark colored Chevy Tahoe speeding from the area and gave chase through the neighborhood.
The Chevy crashed into a parked car in the 600 block of Mable Street and the three occupants were detained. A woman in the parked car suffered minor injuries.
They found two bullet holes in the driver’s side of the Chevy SUV.
The 26-year-old driver was arrested for violating federal parole, fleeing and eluding and driving drunk on a suspended license.
A 23-year-old passenger was arrested on an outstanding warrant and a probation violation. The second passenger was released.
They recovered a .40 caliber Glock handgun that they believe was discarded by the occupants of the Chevy on North Westnedge.
An eyewitness to the original shooting says the Chevy Tahoe was fired upon by someone inside a Mercury Grand Marquis.
The occupants of that car remain at large.
The reason for the dispute remains a mystery. Apparently the two men who were arrested are not cooperating.
