KALAMAZOO (WKZO) — Kalamazoo City Commissioners will have a busy agenda Monday night.
Near the top of the agenda is a scheduled public-hearing on the 2015 City Budget.
The Commissioners are scheduled to take comments on the spending plan but won’t take a final vote on the budget until their next regular meeting on January 19th.
They are also expected to salute Commissioner Stephanie Moore who ran for the Kalamazoo County Board and officially left the City Board on January 1st.
The Commissioners have received 15-applications for Moore’s vacant seat.
They are expected to whittle that list down to a smaller number of candidates during the meeting.
They will then interview the candidates who survive the initial screening at a special meeting next Monday night, before making their final selection.
Also on the agenda, a proposal to expand the Downtown Design Review District to the area surrounding the new KVCC campus next to Bronson Hospital.
It would require that land owners meet certain design standards when they build or upgrade their properties.
Current property owners have already begun to express their opposition to the city changing the rules.
Monday night’s agenda item is a proposal to schedule a public hearing.
