KENT COUNTY (WKZO) — This latest round of wintry weather and hazardous road conditions have already claimed three lives.
Counties to the north got hit harder and sooner than the southern counties.
The worst of the crashes left two people dead in the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming.
Police say 35-year-old Ken Cheatum and 21-year-old Brittney Milton died at the scene after their car slid off icy 28thStreet and slammed into a power pole near Michael Avenue.
The driver of a Smart Car was killed when the sub-compact slid across the centerline on the ice on Knapp St. in Grand Rapids and struck an oncoming vehicle.
The name of the driver has not been released.
