HARTFORD (WKZO) — White out conditions created problems on I-94 yesterday with dozens of slide offs and crashes, and one large chain-reaction crash involving several semi’s in Van Buren County.
The largest chain-reaction in the state involved 40 vehicles and also was due to poor visibility on U.S.-31 near WHitehall. There were no serious injuries despite all the twisted metal. Its usually a white knuckle drive.
Heavy snowfall predicted for this afternoon could make the ride home much tougher than the ride in to work today.
Perhaps the strangest collision involved a Mini-Van that rear-ended a slower moving Semi and got stuck there.
The van, with the four members of the Menz family trapped inside were dragged for 16-miles. Pamela Menz called 9-1-1 and got police to eventually intervene.
Matt Menz says it was pure terror.
They had just returned from a trip to florida and were driving home from the airport when the freak incident occurred. Its some kind of miracle that there were no injuries.
