MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, MI — After 28 years of service in the Meridian Township Police Department, township police Chief Ken Plaga has announced his retirement.
Chief Plaga began his career with Meridian Township on September 6, 1995, as a Public Safety Officer. The law enforcement veteran was named police chief in 2018. His last day will be Friday Aug. 25.
“The most rewarding part of this job has been the connection to the community,” said Chief Plaga. “My proudest accomplishment is the relationships I’ve built between our department and the various residents, schools, and organizations I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years.”
Prior to joining the Meridian Township Police Department, Chief Plaga earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.
