BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — Battle Creek Police say a driver is lucky to be alive after he tangled with a semi that went out of control on I-94 near the Helmer Road Exit, jumped the cables in the median and came flying at him head on late Saturday morning.
Police got the report at about 11:20 a.m. The driver had to be pried out of what was left of his car.
The driver was conscious and talking when he was loaded on board a Care-flight Helicopter and flown to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was admitted in serious condition but is expected to survive.
The truck driver wasn’t hurt. No names or information about the travelers has been released.
