DETROIT (WKZO) — It doesn’t open to the public until the weekend but the preliminary events for the North American International Auto Show begin today.
The Ford F-150 Pick-up and the VW Golf have been named Truck and Car of the Year.
There was a time not that long ago that the big show in Detroit felt more like a wake than a celebration as the Big Three were on the rocks, and the auto show was talking about moving to the suburbs. That has all changed.
This year the show is in a city that is out of bankruptcy in a renovated Cobo Hall.
Spokesperson Joe Rohatynski says they will have three days of press tours and previews. Thursday is the Black Tie event for Detroit’s Children’s Charities.
Both Michigan Senators and the Press will be there today for the announcement of the Cars and Trucks of the year.
