GRAND RAPIDS (WKZO) — Former Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School tutor Abigail Simon is headed to prison for eight to 25 years for having sex with a 15-year-old student. The 35-year-old was sentenced on Wednesday after being convicted in November of four charges.
Simon testified in her own defense, and the now-17-year-old student was on the stand for four of the eleven days of the trial. Her attorney argued during the trial that the six-foot-three, 220-pound student was the aggressor and intimidated his client into a sexual relationship.
