PAW PAW (WKZO) — A Portage man is dead following a traffic crash on I-94 Monday night.
Michigan State Police from the Paw Paw post responded to a crash near mile marker 58 around 11:25 p.m. It appears 83-year-old Eugene Howard may have suffered a medical emergency while driving at a slow speed when a semi-tractor trailer struck his vehicle from behind.
Witnesses attempted to render aid and state police troopers attempted CPR until medical personnel arrived on the scene, but their attempts were unsuccessful. The crash remains under investigation.
