BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — Two people from Battle Creek are being treated for gunshot wounds at Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo, after they were shot as they sat in a car in front of a home in the 200 block of Jordan at Roseneath Avenue.
It happened on the Cereal City’s northwest side at about 2 a.m. Sunday.
A man was shot several times and was critically wounded. The woman suffered only a single gunshot wound and was last listed in stable condition.
Officers apparently have a suspect. They say he is a 24-year-old male, but he is not in their custody. He was described as short and stocky with short hair.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that there may be a connection between this shooting, and the New Year’s Day Murder of 22-year-old Demoyne Smith, who was shot and killed outside a home on Marjorie Street. He had been shot once in the head.
