LAWTON (WKZO) — This renter probably won’t be getting her damage deposit back .
The Van Buren County Sheriffs Department is investigating a possible animal abuse case in Lawton.
Deputies say it appears she moved out of her apartment at 518 N. Main in Lawton three weeks ago, leaving behind eleven Chihuahua mixed breed dogs, and they really made a smelly mess of the place.
The animals were taken to the County Shelter and are in generally good health.
Deputies plan to file a report with the Prosecutor asking that the 56-year-old woman be charged with animal cruelty and abandonment.
