PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Portage City Hall is experimenting with a compressed work schedule during the summer months.
Beginning Monday, June 5, city administrative staff will add 30 minutes to the beginning and end of each workday on Monday through Thursday. City administrative offices will close at noon on Friday, beginning June 9.
City officials hope the compressed schedule will provide working Portage families an opportunity to conduct city business before or after the regular workday on
Mondays through Thursdays. They also hope that will also lead to greater employee satisfaction and productivity year-round.
The City Administration plan to measure the impacts of the trial of summer hours and collect feedback from Portage residents during this period to
determine the success of the altered hours.
They go onto say that the hours at the Portage Zhang Senior Center will remain as published and that the Portage Department of Public Safety will be operational 24 hours a day. Public Works and Utilities operational staff will retain normal working hours.
Portage City Hall Summer Hours (June 5 – August 31) : Monday – Thursday: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: CLOSED
