KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo (ACGK) is announcing the addition of Nicki Poer to its staff.
Poer joins the ACGK in a newly created role as the Director of Engagement and will be working on development and marketing efforts to promote arts engagement opportunities in the greater Kalamazoo community.
Poer moved to Kalamazoo in 2008 when she became the Director of Education and Outreach at the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre. In that role, she founded and developed the Academy of Theatre Arts which provides students with hands-on educational opportunities in performance and technical theatre.
After spending 10 years at the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre, Poer served as the Executive Director of the local youth literacy nonprofit, Read and Write Kalamazoo, where she set up operations and discovered her love of telling an organization’s story through grant writing.
Most recently, Poer has come to the Arts Council from working in the advancement division at Kalamazoo College.
“I am happy to be working with Nicki again. She has a proven track record of developing relationships, engaging artists, and infusing excitement and enthusiasm into the great work in Kalamazoo,” said Executive Director Kristen Chesak. “The Arts Council is dedicated to providing resources and access to all artists in the community, and Nicki will be a great addition to our already very dedicated staff.”
